Requirements for Membership.  Any person, firm, association, corporation, or public institution or subdivision thereof engaged in providing training and education or continuing education or employment for the purpose of practicing massage therapy in the State of Arizona may become a member of the Council of Massage Therapy Educators by:

a)      Submitting a letter requesting consideration for membership to:

b)      Enclosing the appropriate membership fee according to the schedule of fees below.

The Letter of Application must identify the category of Membership applied for as well the professional activities or circumstances qualifying the applicant for membership.

No Member may hold more than one membership in the Council, and no membership in the Council shall be transferable.

      Categories of Membership.  There shall be three classes of Members. An organization or person may apply to the Council for membership as an Institutional Member, a Professional Member, or an Affiliate Member.

a)      “Institutional Members” are defined as those Members who are Arizona state licensed and approved schools with massage therapy training programs intended to prepare students to be able to practice professionally in Arizona. An organization representing providers of continuing education to massage therapists in the state of Arizona may also become an Institutional Member by special resolution of the Council.  

      Institutional Members shall be represented at meetings of the Council by a person authorized by the Institutional Member who is an owner or employee of the Member and who is appropriately knowledgeable of matters being addressed by the Council.

b)      “Professional Members” are defined as those Members who are:

i)    directors or instructors of massage therapy programs at schools that qualify for Institutional membership (whether or not those schools are actually Members of Council), and/or

ii)   providers of continuing education courses for massage therapists either approved by the Arizona state licensing Board for massage therapists, or approved as Category A continuing education providers by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork.

c)      “Affiliate Members” are those persons, such as employers of massage therapists, who do not qualify as Institutional Members, or Professional Members.

    Membership Fees.  annual membership dues are as follows:

a)     Institutional Member - $350 per calendar year

b)     Professional Member - $100 per calendar year

c)      $250 for an Affiliate Member per calendar year.
